Kids Area Activities



Experience hands on art activities in the Kids’ Art Area at the 43rd Park City Kimball Arts Festival. The Kids’ Art Area offers a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.


Tie Dye ($10.00 includes T-shirt)
Learn to tie dye a Festival t-shirt as artists and volunteers assist visitors with designing and tying shirts in various ways. Choose from a rainbow of colorful dyes. Unravel it the next day to discover the design and colors you created! (We use professional quality Dharma Dyes.)

Ceramics ($3 per project)
Use stamps and printing techniques on air dry clay to create a pendant for a necklace or keychain. Great for any age, there is no need to wait on your work to be fired. Take it home, let it dry and amaze your friends with beautiful jewelry you create.

Face Painting Sponsored by Rocky Mountain Power (Free)
Transform your face into a creature beyond your imagination. Face painting artist create any character or design that you ask for. All volunteer artists use Snazaroo Brand Paints, which are non toxic and wash off with soap and water.

KSL Broadcast Booth (Free)
Stop by the KSL 5 Booth and be a special reporter! Try your skills at reading with a teleprompter. KSL encourages reading as part of their Read Today Program. See your self on TV!

Carma Booth Sponsored by C.A.R.M.A. (Free)

The C.A.R.M.A .Center display will offer free heart rhythm screenings and educational materials regarding Afib. It will also showcase photographs of arrhythmia patients and their loved ones from across the United States, taken by award-winning photographer, Lynn Blodgett. These photographs are a look into the CARMA arrhythmia photography book, a project to raise awareness and funds for arrhythmia research. Activities for children will include a finger puppet craft for younger kids and a pinwheel craft for older kids, as well as a quizzes, activity sheets, and drawings for all ages.

Ceramics Demonstration(Free)
Watch as ceramic artist make wheel thrown pottery. Demonstrations from local artists and volunteers will be held in the ceramics studio at the Kimball Art Center during the following times: 
Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Sunday at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Scavenger Hunt (Free)
Pick up the Festival Scavenger Hunt at the Kids’ Art Area ticket table, then walk the street to check out the more than 200 artists, visit festival sponsors and join in on the fun to find the answers to all of the questions. Return the completed scavenger hunt to the Kids’ Art Area ticket counter and select a prize from the treasure chest! This is a great activity to get involved in learning about art, the Festival, Park City and the Kimball Art Center.

Kimball Art Center Staff’s Pick Student Art Show (Free)

Each staff member at the Kimball chose their favorite piece during the Wasatch Back Student Art Show: Everyday Art. These pieces will be on display in the Kids’ Art Area. Each year the Kimball Art Center showcases student art in the Wasatch Back Student Art Show allowing more than 600 Summit and Wasatch County School District students to exhibit their work.

Kids’ Membership ($25 per year)
Encourage your child to start creating art and become involved at any age. Your child can join as a member of the Kimball Art Center for $25. Child members receive a year round membership, invitations to special events, 10% off of all classes, 10% off at the Studio 6 Supply Store, and a quarterly Kids’ Members’ Only Gallery Tour and Project.
The costs of Kids’ Art Activities and Tips & Donations in the Kids’ Art Area support the Kimball Art Center’s educational programs which include A.R.T.S., the Young Artists’ Academy, class scholarships and more.
